Make a Real Difference – Become a School Governor at The Park

At The Park School, our Local Governing Board (LGB) plays a vital role in helping our school flourish. We work collaboratively to realise the school’s vision so that students reach their unique potential and go on to lead happy and fulfilling lives. If you would like to be part of this, then please see how you can get involved below:

No Experience Needed – Just Passion and Commitment

You don’t need qualifications or a background in education. What matters is:

  • A belief in the importance of education
  • Willingness to learn and ask questions
  • Your time to contribute and work collaboratively to continually improve our school
  • Enthusiasm and a connection to the school and its wider community
  • Embracing potential and pursue the best in ALL aspects of school life
  • Demonstrating a growth mindset to overcome challenges
  • Treating everyone in our community with respect, consideration, and care

What Parent Governors Do

  • Help shape the school’s vision and strategy
  • Promote high standards and wellbeing for students and staff
  • Monitor performance and curriculum access
  • Support and challenge school leadership
  • Ensure community voices are heard

Time Commitment

  • Attend meetings (around 6-8 per year)
  • Visit the school and engage with staff, students, and parents
  • Complete online training
  • Join occasional panels

  • Nominee name
  • Name and year group of child/children
  • Nominee contact details (residential address, email address and phone no.)
  • Nominee personal statement (max. 200 words)

Your personal statement should outline your relevant skills and experience and why you would like to be a governor at the school.  If there are more nominations than vacancies, we will conduct a secret ballot and your name and personal statement will be included on the voting form. If that is necessary, voting instructions will be sent to all parents and carers nearer the time.
