Social Studies
Our Social Studies curriculum builds on the core themes of PSHCE taught at Key Stage 3, with a broader focus on preparing students for life beyond school. We explore essential topics such as risk management, travel training, and understanding the wider world—equipping learners with the skills and confidence to navigate adulthood with independence and resilience.
Students are encouraged to be enterprising, make informed choices about learning and careers, and manage their finances effectively. The curriculum also promotes healthy and safe lifestyles, positive relationships, and respect for diversity. Through reflection and discussion, students clarify their own values and attitudes while exploring the complex and sometimes conflicting perspectives they may encounter in society.
Learning is active and inclusive, involving role play, group work, investigations, and problem-solving. Enrichment activities such as themed days, workshops, and guest speakers bring real-world relevance and excitement to the classroom.
